At work we talk of future perfect
The ideal we hope to ascertain
Something that we can work towards
Then shift the goalposts out again
In life we rarely take the time
To set out our ideal visions
There seems too many factors at play
Which impact our decisions
Instead we go along with life
And we hope for things to change
But sometimes events will unfold
Which you are unable to exchange
I now hope for healthy children
Who will live long and happy lives
I hope that Ivy’s with us
And that her legacy survives
I hope that Ivy’s waiting
Outside of time and space
And that for her it will be an instant
Before she can see my face
Then in one moment past that
All of us will be together
To finally be a whole family
Eternally, forever
