Your tiny hand that holds on tight
To a solitary finger
My glance that turns into a gaze
As my eyes rest a while and linger
The softness of your skin on mine
Whilst you’re lying on my chest
To feel your heart and the rise and fall
Of every little breath
I’d stay awake forever just to sit
And watch you sleep
Then when you open up your eyes
I’m lost inside the deep
I sit and wait with baited breath
For when your smile’s unfurled
It fills me with a thawing warmth
Which melts the worries of the world
I can’t express with any words
What family means to me
Through all the loss and love and grief
It’s the only thing I need
To feel your love surrounding me
Whilst you’re all in my embrace
To Ivy, Kathryn and those to come
You are my happy place
